Prepare yourselves...you're about to be bombarded with pictures from FUSE's recent journey to AWP 2015 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Let the fun begin!

Hello, dear Fusians! I hope you all had a great break! If you weren't able to come to the blog discussion last Wednesday, don't sweat it. It was a great discussion, and I would just like to say thank you to all the people who were there and participated. I made this word cloud to have something brightly colored and spring-like to look at while we talked, and I thought you guys might enjoy it too!
I hope everyone's excited for AWP!

Here's another article to look at for the blog discussion today. It's a bit lengthy, but it brings to light an issue that many of us are going to come face to face with in the publishing industry - the changing face of editing. The gist of the article is that with the publishing industry becoming more streamlined, quality, painstakingly time-consuming editing takes a backseat to the demands of speed and efficiency. You don't have to read the whole thing (unless you want to); just skim it and take note of what sticks out to you. We'll open it up for discussion today, along with a few discussion questions about the first article.
See you guys later! http://www.theguardian.com/books/2011/feb/11/lost-art-editing-books-publishing

What do you want to write or edit?
Writing Commercial Fiction and Loving It by Holly Robinson
So for our upcoming discussion at FUSE on Wednesday, I thought we could talk about a more personal issue for us - why we want to write or edit, and specifically, what we want to write or edit. I suspect that for some us, that has changed since we started at Susquehanna through the influences of professors, personality shifts, or anything else.
As you read the opinion article from Publisher's Weekly, I would also like you to think about the following question: How does commercial fiction writing/editing compare with literary fiction writing/editing?
So check out this article by Wednesday, and hopefully we'll be able to have a lively discussion!

Internship Searching
As we slide down the tail end of the semester, I'm sure many of you are thinking about or actively searching for internships. Here's the PowerPoint presentation that Ryan Smolko gave before midterm break. Happy hunting! PowerPoint
Don't be like these people:
So today we're going to talk about copyediting at our FUSE meeting, and if anyone was wondering what exactly a copyeditor does, check out this link: What does a copyeditor do?
And if you would like to see examples of copyediting, look at this: Examples of copyediting
I hope we'll have a great discussion today, guys! Come prepared to talk!
